Laser Medicine is a general practice Therapeutic Laser clinic, specialising in the application of Clinical Grade Red Light Therapy for Photobiomodulation (PBM). We utilise a combination of advanced clinical grade Low Level Laser equipment: Class 3b and Class 4 Therapeutic Laser (and sometimes LED), to treat many health conditions. We specialise in non specific age related fertility issues, premature ovarian response in younger women (often due to endometriosis and PCOS), neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and ASD, Oral Mucositis, and a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including neuropathy and digestive gut health.

Pioneers in Clinical Grade Red Light

Laser Medicine was founded in 2014, by Ruth Phypers MA, after she experienced personally the transformative effects of Low Level Laser Therapy. Once Ruth learned the effectiveness of Red Light / Photobiomodulation Therapy for improving mitochondrial energy throughout the body, and its positive impact on a wide range of health conditions, Ruth set out to bring this relatively unknown form of therapy to a wider audience. Ruth completed a Masters degree in the therapeutic Traditions of Yoga and Meditation, combined with a Practitioner’s Diploma in Therapeutic Laser. She studied for five further years with a veteran acupuncturist before he passed away, who had developed effective Low Level Light Therapy protocols over his 30 years of practice.

“As soon as I stumbled across Therapeutic Laser 11 years ago, straight away I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life studying and advancing this incredible healing modality. Using long-range wavelengths of light (infrared and near infrared / IR and NIR), which are the safest, most healing light wavelengths in the sun’s broad light spectrum , delivered at optimum power outputs made perfect sense. Clinical Grade Red Light can be transformative, sometimes very quickly, and can often address health conditions where traditional pharmaceutical based protocols fail to make a difference”. (Ruth Phypers, Laser Medicine).

“I felt it was very important to provide people with clinical based information, using evidence and protocols from published clinical research in Red Light Photobiomodulation around the world. Furthermore, I resisted offering any service until I had seen viable anecdotal success in my clinical practice. I authored the Laser Medicine website with original material, never relying on content generators or AI scripts, making sure that the information was relevant, accurate and backed by science. Many ‘Red Light / Low Level Laser practitioners since have looked to the Laser Medicine site for guidance and content and AI engines regularly use the site for information. We aimed to lead the therapeutic field and have inspired many practitioners to develop their services over the years.”

Leading Clinical Grade Red Light Research

It has been a honour to work alongside esteemed medical doctors who have harnessed the powerful healing effects of Clinical Grade Red Light in their medical research. Work supported by Professor Reem Hanna (University College Hospital, London) has resulted in a number of co-authored clinical studies (Prof Hanna, Prof Berisha and Ms Phypers) all open access on NIH PubMed and scientific biomedical journals. Clinical Grade Red Light Therapy in the Mainstream

It is incredibly rewarding to see and hear more mention of Photobiomodulation Therapy in the mainstream medical world, and discussed by health commentators. In a recent podcast Dr Roger Seheult talks in very clear terms about the benefit of sunlight generally, making specific reference to Photobiomodulation Therapy (DOAC: July 2025, 33:55 minutes).
