At Laser Medicine London, we support the work of leading fertility clinics, with the application of Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT), also known as Therapeutic Laser or Red Light Therapy. This triggers a process of Photobiomodulation (PBM) for increased mitochondrial energy. Therapeutic Laser is a safe and effective adjunct to support ovarian rejuvenation for women trying to conceive, either naturally or via IVF. We combine Therapeutic Laser with Ovarian PRP, especially for women over 40 years old, to improve and extend reproductive health. This powerful combination of Therapeutic Laser and Ovarian PRP often proves very effective for ovarian rejuvenation and also to prepare the uterine lining for pregnancy.

Low Level Laser Therapy is also known as Red Light Therapy (because of the wavelengths used within the Infrared / Near Infrared range (600-1000nm)). Ovarian PRP involves taking a small sample of the patient’s own blood, and injecting it into the ovaries under mild sedation. The combination of ovarian PRP and / or Therapeutic Laser (PBM) can promote good reproductive health and improve fertility outcomes. We frequently see positive results in our London Photobiomodulation clinic.

Since Ovarian PRP is licensed in the UK, we partner with a select group of expert gynaecologists to provide world-class ovarian rejuvenation services in the heart of Harley Street, London, UK. Gynaecologists carry out Ovarian and Uterine PRP procedures, we carry out the Therapeutic Laser treatments, and we work as a team. Together we assess improved fertility outcomes (an increase in viable embryos, successful implantation and healthy babies), using Therapeutic Laser / PBM and Ovarian PRP for ovarian rejuvenation.

Ovarian PRP to improve fertility.

Ovarian PRP was developed initially in Athens, Greece, and its success has led to its global adoption. Penny Abatzi, the founder and clinic director at Serum IVF in Athens, has offered the ovarian PRP treatment for many years. We have learned from Serum’s experience in this adjunct fertility therapy, which can increase the chance of successful conception and pregnancy.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy as an IVF ancillary treatment.

Ovarian PRP treatment is a newly pioneered procedure (several clinical trials are underway), which may offer hope to women with early premature ovarian failure, diminished ovarian reserve and to those who are advanced in reproductive age, or have had repeated IVF failure or poor egg quality. OVA-PRP intends to rejuvenate ovarian tissue, stimulate vascularisation, improve blood supply and re-awake dormant eggs into maturation for development within the ovary.

Low Light Laser Therapy / PBM as an adjunct IVF treatment.

Laser Therapy, also known as Red Light Therapy or Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) has proven successful in various clinics worldwide as an IVF adjunct treatment. Since the Oshiro studies in Japan which took place over many years from 1996 with repeated success, other clinics have seen success rates have proved as high as 65%. Furthermore, laboratory studies have also repeatedly shown the effectiveness of Low Level Laser Therapy for Fertility:

  • Enhanced mitochondrial activity and ATP production.
  • Increased blood flow.
  • Reduction of oxidative damage.
  • Improved energetic value of a developing embryo in early stages.

At our Harley Street fertility clinic, we continue to monitor and celebrate the positive effects of Photobiomodulation for ovarian rejuvenation, reproductive health and fertility.

LLLT Courses to Improve Egg Quality

The optimum age to promote fertilisation via Therapeutic Laser is for women in the mature age group of 35-50, because reproductive cells are more likely to lack cellular energy as a result of the ageing process.

Laser Therapy (LLLT)is recommended as an IVF adjunct treatment, during the lead up to a fertilisation, regardless of whether fertilisation is to be achieved via natural or ART/IVF methods. It prepares the body and reproductive organs, and promotes optimum conditions for conception to take place. In many cases we recommend LLLT in combination with Ovarian PRP.

The overall general health and age of a patient determines the frequency of treatment, which is normally around 2-3 treatments every 4-6 weeks. During a period of trying to conceive (either via natural or IVF methods), we base our protocols around a schedule of 6 treatments over a period of 2 weeks from Day 1 to Day 14 of the cycle, and if conception does not take place, to repeat the following month. Women over 40 years old, benefit most from a session once a week leading up to an IVF cycle.
