Laser Medicine, London, is a Harley Street Clinic that specialises in healing with light. We are a general practice Therapeutic Laser clinic and we treat a wide range of health conditions, using Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) also widely known as Low Laser Therapy (LLLT) and, in the main stream, sometimes referred to as Red Light Therapy (RLT). As a general medical Therapeutic Laser Clinic, we offer a distinctly different type of laser therapy from surgical and aesthetic laser, where far higher powered lasers are used to cut or ablate skin tissue using extreme heat.
Therapeutic Laser is applied at a low power intensity, to create a biological healing process in living tissue. Unlike surgical and aesthetic lasers, Therapeutic Laser does not work by creating a thermal response in the tissue. Instead Therapeutic Laser initiates a series of biological processes, hence the term ‘photobiomodulation’. A series of biological events are triggered in the blood to increase oxygen, blood flow and mitochondria energy, most notably seen in the increase of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP).
We work with Omega Laser Systems XP Clinic Medical Class 3b Laser, and K Laser Class 4 Therapeutic Laser, which omit a range of wavelengths between 600nm and 1000nm (Infrared and Near Infrared). We don’t work with YAG, Pixel or CO2 lasers – we leave that to the surgeons and aesthetics specialists. However Therapeutic Laser can be used in combination with surgical / aesthetics lasers for faster wound healing after surgery, and to resolve / heal ablative aesthetic procedures. Therapeutic Laser is often used to reduce scar tissue formation, and to help resolve scar tissue and inflammation post surgery / aesthetic procedures.
The enhanced mitochondrial energy created by Therapeutic Laser means that healing with light may help recovery from many health conditions, which benefit from increased blood flow, improved blood quality and higher mitochondrial function. Ovarian quality, thyroid function, the rapid healing of soft tissue injuries, neurodegenerative disease, nerve damage, even hair loss are just a few of the many conditions that can benefit from safe healing from Therapeutic Laser.

Thyroid healing with light
Several significant clinical studies indicate the efficacy of photobiomodulation therapy for improving thyroid function. A study took place in Brazil over the course of 10 years, followed by a further trial in Turkey in 2019. Both studies showed that patients were able to reduce synthetic thyroid medication as a result of improved thyroid function.
We recently supported the work of Professor Venera Berisha-Muharremi to show that Therapeutic Laser may significantly impact not only on thyroid function, but also to alleviate many of the symptoms associated with hypothyroid such as weight gain and fatigue.

Fertility and ovarian healing with light
Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) proves successful in various clinics worldwide for healing with light to improve egg and sperm quality for IVF and natural conception. Success rates in Denmark and Norway proved as high as 65% for patients who failed to fall pregnant. Clinical grade Class 3b and Class 4 Laser equipment calibrated to the highest power output possible for a non-thermal laser device is used for the best results.
A series of Low Level Laser Treatments are recommended during the lead up to a fertilisation, regardless of whether fertilisation is to be achieved via natural or ART/IVF methods. Therapeutic Laser prepares the body and reproductive organs, and promotes optimum conditions for conception to take place. As it takes an egg 3-4 months to mature, a course of treatments in the lead up to conception often proves beneficial.

Neurodegenerative disease healing with light.
A recent study at Durham University focused on the use of Infrared Therapy to Reduce Dementia. The study explored the use of Low Level Laser Therapy / Photobiomodulation Therapy for the effective treatment of memory loss ad other symptoms associated with Dementia.
